I was recently invited to attend the ‘Love for the UAE’ forum as representative poet for the UK, the event was held at the Ritz Carlton in Abu Dhabi in honour of Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. An extract of my poem:
Nothing on my person, but open eyes,
As I descended upon the sands of Dubai.
Mabrook! The gates whistled in foreign tongue and I was enamoured with the desert all at once.
Eastern enigma…I could never foresee
The fortune that would grace to befall me
For those open eyes, would come to surmise
A land that blessed my soul…with opportunity.
